Northfield YMCA Offers Support in Tough Times

Northfield YMCA LogoLike so many Americans, members of our community are feeling overwhelmed, stressed and powerless in these challenging economic times.

Now more than ever, we need to focus on the important areas of our lives where we have the power to make a positive difference — our health and wellbeing, our family and our community.

This is a good time for families and individuals to renew their focus on three areas that the YMCA believes form the foundation for strong, healthy families and communities:

YMCA Boomer Water Volleyball Makes a Splash!

The Northfield Area Family YMCA and the Northfield Senior Center have collaborated to make an impact on your health (not your joints) by offering Boomer Water Volleyball. Have some fun in the pool -- you'll hardly know you're exercising!

Northfield Skating School Named “Model Program” by SKATING Magazine!

SKATING magazineOut of over 800 Basic Skills programs nationwide, the Northfield Skating School was named “Model Program” by the editors of SKATING magazine, the official publication of U.S. Figure Skating!

Earlier this year, Northfield Skating School Director Carey Tinkelenberg was invited by U.S. Figure Skating to write a series of articles for SKATING magazine. The content included various management topics centered around what Tinkelenberg believes are the building blocks of quality programs: Parent Education and Communication, Staff Training, Customer Service, Strategic Planning and Marketing, and Civic Engagement. The Parent Education article was reprinted in Professional Skater Magazine, and a compilation of her articles will appear as a “One Stop Management Guide” feature in Rink Magazine next month. It was in the September issue of SKATING that editors named the Northfield Skating School “Model Program.”
