Requests for Assistance and Volunteering
The amount of tree damage across the City is extensive and there may still be many property owners still working to clear trees on their property. Northfield Shares and Rice County have many resources available to all county and city residents regardless of income or status.
The individuals and groups offering assistance are eager to help; please do not hesitate to request assistance. Also, please check with neighbors and reach out to those you know to make sure storm recovery needs are being addressed.

Dear Members of the Northfield Community,
Due to the volume of trees being disposed at the City Compost Site, the City will open Babcock Park Rodeo Grounds 700 Hwy. 3 South (by the Dog Park, north of Culvers) on Tuesday, September 25 at 8:00 a.m.
The City is currently focusing its effort in the southeast portion of the City where the most damage occurred. Click this link to see the progress of clearing trees. The map will be updated daily. https://bit.ly/2xFCVcW

Northfield MN - The City of Northfield crews are cleaning up debris after this evening's storm.
Call (507) 645-3045 for non-emergency issues.
Your safety is our concern. For everyone's safety and so first responders can do their job, we are asking the public please do not travel to storm damaged areas. Only call 911 if it is an emergency so that the line may remain open for those in need. Law enforcement and emergency responders are out assisting as needed.
Power outages are reported.
No injuries.
We will continue to keep you updated as we assess the damages.

Seeking Election Judges for City of Northfield

The City of Northfield is seeking interested individuals to serve as election judges for the Primary Election on August 14, 2018 and the General Election on November 6, 2018. Election judges administer election procedures in polling places and ensure that voters' rights are protected and respected on Election Day. Election judges receive pay for their services, unless they choose to serve as volunteers. By law, employers must give election judges time off from work to serve. In addition to serving on Election Day, judges must complete required training that will be approximately two hours in length. Election judges may serve all day (approximately 6 am – close) or a half day shift (6am – 2 pm or 2 pm – close).

Northfield-12:00 p.m. Effective immediately, the City of Northfield is ending the advisory warning to the public to consider avoiding direct contact with the water on the Cannon River downstream of Northfield in Dakota County and Goodhue County as a result of a discharge of wastewater from the Northfield Wastewater Treatment Plant on the early morning of Tuesday, July 2, 2018.
Water quality test samples collected Wednesday, July 4 and again Thursday, July 5 show bacteria levels have decreased below recreational water quality levels.

Northfield-The City is extending its advisory warning to the public to consider avoiding direct contact with the water on the Cannon River downstream of Northfield in Dakota County and Goodhue County through 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 6 as a result of a discharge of wastewater from the Northfield Wastewater Treatment Plant on the early morning of Tuesday, July 2, 2018.
Water quality test samples collected Wednesday, July 4, show bacteria levels have decreased below recreational water quality levels. The City is waiting on additional test results to confirm this trend and is anticipating the advisory will be lifted on Friday, July 6, 2018.

Northfield-The City is providing an advisory warning to the public to consider avoiding direct contact with the water on the Cannon River downstream of Northfield through 6:00 a.m. on Friday, July 6th. The City has contacted governmental jurisdictions in Dakota County and Goodhue County that are downstream from Northfield who are determining if there are any public health notifications or restrictions that are appropriate. Designated City staff continue to communicate with these partners.
