Davina and the Vagabonds
Submitted by Northfield Arts... on Fri, 12/21/2018 - 1:14pmDavina and the Vagabonds at the Northfield Arts Guild
The Northfield Arts Guild 411 Concert Series presents the sassy and crisp sounds of Davina and the Vagabonds at 7:30pm on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Armory Square, 519 Division Street, Northfield.
Davina and the Vagabonds have been creating excitement on the national music scene for more than a decade with their dynamic shows, quality musicianship, and powerful stage presence. With blues and jazz styling, the group radiates a Memphis swagger and a New Orleans charisma.
“Davina Sowers is a one-of-a-kind performer whose singing… has a sassiness bearing some comparison to that of heart-thumping blues queens Ma Rainey and Ida Cox,” says Downbeat magazine.

Art Exhibit at River Bend Nature Center
Submitted by Jane B McWilliams on Thu, 11/01/2018 - 10:55amLocal native animals are subjects of an exhibit of fabric art by Northfield artist Toni Easterson at River Bend Nature Center in Faribault. Easterson’s fourteen portraits reveal her close connections to the animals she sees from her window - a mink, an egret, a turtle, a rabbit, a bluebird, among others. She uses fabric pieces given to her by friends and transformes them into remarkable creatures. An egret’s plume, for example, was part of a lace wedding gown.
