U of MN pitcher has good outing; Thursday's Table gets Strib profile; Dan Patch Line downgraded to 'iffy'; Rice County home sale price down 30% YoY

The Minnesota baseball team (6-7) had a season-high 17 runs as it defeated North Dakota State (3-7) 17-8 in a midweek game on Tuesday, Mar. 18 at the Metrodome. With the 17-run output, the Golden Gophers have now scored 28 runs in their last two games.

Thursday's Table gets a nice write-up from the Star Tribune...

"Minnesotans flourish in that potluck atmosphere," said Jim Blaha, executive director of the Northfield Community Action Center, who hopes that volunteers will bring their friends and family to dinner to promote diversity.

The proposed Dan Patch commuter rail line faces an uncertain future at the Legislature...

"High emotions are riding on it right now," a top official of the Metropolitan Council told members of the Scott County board in a briefing last week. Added Arlene McCarthy, director of Metropolitan Transportation Services: "I don't know that the council will push real hard on that."

Rice County's median home sales price has dropped 29.8% vs. Feb 2007...

"I think we're less than half way through this nationally, and probably locally as well," Anderson said. "What we're most worried about is the rising number of households that are 'under water.' "

By "under water," Anderson means homeowners owing more on their mortgages than the house is worth. Moody's Economy.com estimates that by the end of March, about 8.8 million homeowners across the country — 10.3 percent of all U.S. homeowners — will owe at least as much as, or more than, their home is worth.
