Feb. 7-9

Thursday
A new exhibit opens at ArtOnWater Gallery ... get a preview today from 3 to 9 p.m. of "Art Touring 2008." This exhibit features regional artists from studios and galleries featured in the Zumbro River Art Splash and the South Central Minnesota Studio arTour. Meet the artists from 7 to 8 p.m.! After catching the exhibit, move on down to The Contented Cow for the Bluegrass and Oldtime Jam Session beginning at 7:30 p.m. and Todd Thompson at The Tavern Lounge. What a way to begin the weekend!

Friday
If one of your concerns is the environment, you'll want to stop by Carleton's Skinner Memorial Chapel for J. Drake Hamilton's presentation called "Global Warming Solutions and Economic Opportunities" at 10:50 a.m. Hamilton is the science policy director for Fresh Energy. At 5 p.m., artists will discuss a new St. Olaf exhibit called "Space and Place" followed by a reception with the Celtic group Wake-Robin at Dittmann Center. The ArtOrg Winter Concert Series continues with The Sizzling Eggheads featuring musicians Peter Diggins, Jim Anton JR Hartley and George Marich. Many local performers will sit in with the band including Wendy Smith of the Zillionaires. And, Chris Koza returns to delight the crowd at The Tavern Lounge. Pick one, pick all!

Saturday
Future aviators in our midst may want to enjoy the Paper Airplane "Fly-in" hosted at St. Olaf's Tostrud Center at 10:30 a.m. K-5 children are invited to create folded airplanes and fly them from the upper deck of Tostrud. Contests and prizes as well as demonstrations on the art of paper airplane folding. This free event is sure to entertain this young group. St. Olaf also hosts a Handbell Choir Concert featuring nationally-known clinician and soloist, Barb Brocker, at 6 p.m. And, you're in for a real treat should you venture to First UCC Congregational Church at 7:30 p.m. ... "The Girls" Concert featuring performers Lori Dokken, Judi Donaghy, Erin Schwab and Debbie Duncan will "wow" the crowd with their jazz, ballads and R&B lyrics. For a taste of country, find James White, Jr., at The Contented Cow and The Norwegian Cowboy will mix up his alt-country at The Tavern Lounge. Enjoy!
