Volleyball: Knights win thriller, Oles, Raiders lose

ole-vb The nationally ranked Knights (#24) won a close match over Gustavus last night at home, three games to two. (Box Score)

Additionally, the Knights avenged a five-game loss in St. Peter last fall. Scores of the individual games in tonight’s seesaw battle were 30-25, 24-30, 30-22, 23-30 and 15-6.

Northfield lost a non-conference match to Rochester Mayo, 3-1, in Rochester.

The Spartans picked up a 3-1 victory over a Section One, Class AAA opponent, yet there are things coach Deb Frederick said her team needs to keep working on.

Frederick said Northfield served very well, but Mayo was able to handle enough of the serves to earn a 25-20, 25-18, 19-25, 25-17 victory.

And the Oles dropped a match to Saint Mary's, 3-1  (Box Score)...

Saint Mary's University prevailed in a four-game volleyball win over St. Olaf, offsetting Kim Smisek's 21-kill outing.
