A Soldier Returns Home After 14 Months In Iraq

Hello, my name is Pam Roth. My son-in-law, Specialist Alex Gehring, has returned home from Iraq Thursday, September 27th after serving 14 months in Iraq.

Alex and my daughter Julie Gehring graduated from Northfield Senior High in 2003. Alex joined the army in the summer of 2005. He and Julie were married Feb 2006 and stationed at Schofield Barracks in Hawaii. Alex departed for Iraq July of 2006. He is scheduled to remain at Schofield Barracks for the next 9 to 12 months and then serve 15 more months in Afghanistan. Alex's mom is DeAnne Krueger and his sister's name is Aubrey.

It has been a long 14 months with many sleepless nights. And although the war is not over in Iraq, this mother-in-law who has so much pride and love in her heart can finally breathe a sigh of relief and for the first time in a long time feel a sense of peace.
