Skiless Skedaddle 2007 is this Saturday

Editor's note: you can view 30 photos from last year's event in this photo gallery.

The Northfield Nordic Ski team will be, once again, hosting a 10K and 5K run! The second annual Skiless Skedaddle race takes place this Saturday, August 11th. The Skiless Skedaddle is put together by members of the Northfield High School Nordic Ski team. All of the profits benefit the team in terms of skis, poles, wax, and other necessary items.

Of course, we give you more than just a run with the Skiless Skedaddle. We will be giving away prizes donated by many Northfield businesses. Most importantly, there will be FREE pancakes provided to all participants! Your entry fee also gets you a Skiless Skedaddle t-shirt, a very popular and sought after item in Northfield. Coming to our race gives you the opportunity to not only go for a great run, with good competition, but also to support one of your local teams.

With the lack of snow in recent years, the ski team has had to use most of its funds for travel. The Skiless Skedaddle race helps us to ensure that we can continue to get to snow, but also that we can provide our skiers with equipment. The race will consist of a 10K run throughout the streets of Northfield and a 5K fun run for all of those wishing to enjoy the day (kids included!).

A registration form for the race is attached, and we will continue registration the day of the event! If you wish to race, but did not remember to register until Saturday, that's just fine. Registration will begin at 6am at St. John's Lutheran Church. The 10K race begins at 8am, starting and finishing at St. Johns. Finally, the 5K race will begin at 8:20am, also at St. John's. The cost of the race is $25 for the 10K and $20 for the 5K. Of course, after the race the pancakes will be served.

We would like to thank all of those that have helped to support our team throughout the years and continue to show their support through their time and energy. The Northfield Nordic Ski team is coached by Dan Kust. This last season he coached close to 50 kids, many of whom had never skied before. The Northfield Nordic Ski team focuses on creating a welcoming environment for skiers of all levels, beginners to experienced.

If you wish to register in advance, forms are attached to this story. You may also visit for forms and information on the team. If you have any questions regarding the race, or anything else, we would be happy to answer your questions at

Thank you so much for supporting the Northfield Nordic Ski team, see you at the race!
