Downtown enhancement projects underway, Division Street closed

arch Beginning Monday, July 9, the Library Corner project will move closer to completion with the installation of the brick paver crosswalks across Division Street. According to the city, Division Street will be closed at Third Street for "not more than 10 workdays." You can view the attached PDF for a map of the traffic reroute.

In addition to the crosswalk project, work will also begin on two Riverwalk Gateway arches on the west side of Division Street. One will span the walkway leading to the Contented Cow and the other will be over the walkway leading to the Tavern. City communications say that the archways are intended to "replicate the old style bridges that once crossed the Cannon River in Northfield," but Locally Grown's Tracy Davis says of the architectural renderings: "All I can say is, I hope it’s a bad rendering of the paint job."

More information on the downtown streetscape improvements and other projects can be found on the projects page of the city website.
