Thursday, Two great author events are scheduled for the evening ... John Koblas, author of "Smoke — Let Them Eat Grass" will be at the Northfield Historical Society at 6:30 p.m. Koblas, a local historian, will speak of his new book about the Sioux uprising of 1862 with a booksigning to follow. Koblas has spent much of his life studying and writing about history and is the author of several books on the 1876 Jesse James bank robbery in Northfield. Faith Sullivan, Minnesota author of "Gardenias," will appear at the Northfield Public Library to discuss her writing at 7 p.m. The Northfield Liquor Store is holding its Spring Wine Tasting event at The Grand Event Center from 7 to 9 p.m. Call 645-5153 for more details. If that's not enough for you, you can celebrate Syttende Mai with Nordic Jam at The Contented Cow starting at 7:30 p.m.

On Friday, It's all about musical talent in Northfield. The Occasional Jazz Quartet plays The Contented Cow from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. with Marty Anderson following at 8:30 p.m. Kim Bloom will play acoustical guitar at The HideAway beginning at 7 p.m. and the Tumeni Brothers will play at Froggy Bottoms at 8:30 p.m. Last but not least, the Norwegian Cowboy can be found at The Tavern Lounge playing his old school country, honky tonk and a mix of 1950s, '70s and '80s rock. Hoot and holler for the Norwegian Cowboy!

Saturday, FamilyHealth Medical Clinic of Northfield is hosting its grand opening from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Northfield Hospital. Come out and tour the new clinic, meet the physicians and enjoy activities geared for the whole family. For more information about this event, go to www.familyhealthclinics.org/Northfield. Dance-n-Fitness is holding its Spring Dance Recital "Swan Lake" at the Northfield High School Auditorium at 7 p.m. You won't want to miss all these great student dancers from preschoolers on up ... they've worked hard all year so they can show off their talent at this event. The High School Choirs Concert will be at 7:30 p.m. at the Middle School Auditorium. You'll also find Relativity playing at The Tavern Lounge. Their mix of current and classic light rock, along with their great original music, will keep you captivated.
