The Secret Garden at the Northfield Arts Guild Theater

The Northfield Arts Guild and director Lolly Foy present The Secret Garden, a Tony-Award winning musical based on Frances Hodgson Burnett’s classic novel.  The Secret Gardenplays at the Northfield Arts Guild Theater weekends April 12 - 28 with Friday and Saturday performances at 7:30 pm and Sunday matinees at 2 pm.  The Northfield Arts Guild Theater is located at 411 Third Street W, Northfield.

Based on Burnett’s beloved novel, “The Secret Garden” follows Mary Lennox, a young orphan girl who lives with her reclusive uncle in a lonely Yorkshire mansion shrouded in mysteries and secrets. Left to her own devices in the huge house, Mary discovers a hidden, overgrown garden that once belonged to her uncle’s late wife Lily. With the help of new friends, Mary learns that with tender care and love, even the saddest, most forsaken things can bloom and thrive again with full life and beauty.

The Secret Garden’s script and lyrics are by the Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Marsha Norman with music by Lucy Simon.

“This show, this cast, embodies what I love best about theatre, “said director Foy, “that special alchemy that happens when performers and material come together to make magic that is greater than the sum of its parts!”

Musical Director Kristin Kivell joins Lolly Foy in working with a spirited cast featuring Kyra Reverman as Mary Lennox, Silas Leer as Colin Craven, Dave Flynn as Archibald Craven, Mandie Siems as Lily, Arlie Lee as Dickon and Steve Lawler as Dr. Neville.  Others in the cast include Inanna Antley. Birch Carlson, Deb Clark, Lillian Feltes, Curt Johnson, Dean Lamp, Elin Odegaard,  Laura Schaubschlager and Larry Tolle.

Tickets and more information are available at The Guild, 304 Division Street South, online at northfieldartsguild.org, or by calling 507-645-8877. General admission tickets are $18.00 for adults and $13.00 for seniors and students.

The Secret Garden is sponsored by Carleton College and supported by Eco Gardens and Rob Martin.  The Journey Home Theater Season is sponsored by Neuger Communications Group and Engage Print.
