Division Street and Seventh Street Reconstruction, Washington Street Mill and Overlay, and Various Parking Lot Rehabilitations

Construction crews will begin Stage 3 of the Division Street and Seventh Street Reconstruction,
Washington Street Mill and Overlay and Various Parking Lot Rehabilitations on Monday September 10, 2018.  Stage 3 includes Washington Street from Second Street to Woodley Street, the Fifth and Washington Street parking lot, the Grand Event Center parking lot, and the Third Street parking lot. (See attached map)
 
Construction of Stage 3 will be broken down into four phases:
 
Phase 1
Phase 1 will include Washington Street from Fifth Street to Seventh Street, and the Fifth Street
and Washington Street parking lot. This area will be closed to thru traffic beginning on Monday
September 10, 2018, and is scheduled to be completed by September 21, 2018, with the exception of the Fifth Street and Washington Street parking lot, which is scheduled to be completed by September 17, 2018.
 
Phase 2
Phase 2 includes Washington Street from Second Street to Fourth Street, the Grand Event Center
parking lot, and the Third Street parking lot. The area is scheduled to be closed to thru traffic
beginning September 24, 2018, and is scheduled to be completed by October 12, 2018.
 
Phase 3
Phase 3 includes Washington Street from Eighth Street to Woodley Street, and the City Hall parking lot. This area is scheduled to be closed to thru traffic beginning October 15, 2018, and is
scheduled to be completed by November 2, 2018.
 
Phase 4
Phase 4 includes Washington Street from Second Street to Woodley Street. This area is scheduled to
be closed to thru traffic beginning on November 2, 2018, and is scheduled to be completed by
November 16, 2018.
 
Detours utilizing Division Street will be in place as construction progresses with each phase.  The
City of Northfield urges motorists to always drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never
enter a road blocked with barriers or cones.
 
Swenke Ims Contracting LLC., of Kasson, MN is the prime contractor for the $3.72 million project.
