More winners get to have 'Dinner on Us'

Well, we promised more winners and we're delivering. JoAnn Kleber is the newest winner in the weekly "Dinner on Us" drawing, winning a $50 certificate to Hogan Brothers.

Joanne was surprised and pleased to hear of her good luck. And if you've wondered just who has become a member of Northfield.org—and why—Joann has this answer:

"I am JoAnn Kleber, married to Dick Kleber. We have three grown children living in the Twin Cities area and six grandchildren. We moved to Northfield in the fall of 1960, when Dick joined the math department at St. Olaf.

I was home until the children went to school and then started to work for the University of Oslo International Summer School office, which is responsible for the recruiting and admission of those in North America who want to attend that program in Norway. It was a wonderful job which took me to Oslo Norway for the six-week session for 23 summers. I retired in 1996."

Why does she like Northfield.org?

"I have always tried to follow the efforts that have been made to distribute Northfield information via the internet so when I saw your announcement I joined. I'm just trying to keep up with what is going on in town."

Thanks for joining! And thanks for being part of the growing group of people who realize that to keep up on everything going on in town, you just need to check in with Northfield.org and we'll point you in the right direction.

McGruff wins?

Not exactly. Meet another recent winner, Helene Haapala, who won dinner at the Contented Cow. That's Helene, to the left, in one of her recent public appearances playing police dog McGruff.

Don't ya just love her?

Here's what she'd share about her life:

"I've lived in Northfield for 11 years and plan on being here at least another 11 years. I moved from "the cities" to be with my partner, Connie Martin. She's a bass player/grant writer and I'm an attorney at Thomson West in Eagan.

"One of my highlights of being in Northfield was 'helping' McGruff the crime fighting dog at the Northfield/National Night Out recently."

Why does she like Northfield.org?

"It's a timely site for information about what's going on it town, as well as the central place to link to for blogs from a motley crew of folks from public officials to politicians to just regular folks."

Wait a minute...Did a woman in a dog suit just call our bloggers a motley crew? Well, it's all in good fun.

You can have some fun, too—$50 worth of fun. That's the value of the weekly gift certificate to one of Northfield's local restaurants. Just go to the New Member page and sign up, or send us an e-mail to enter without joining. Enter by noon Sunday, Sept. 10, and we'll announce a winner Monday, Sept. 11.

Good luck!
