Northfield Reads continues to have a successful year.  Fourteen people gathered at Content Bookstore to discuss $2.00 a Day: Living on Almost Nothing in America, this year’s selection.  The participants shared concerns, thoughts, and ideas of ways to make changes in our country.

The next event will be the showing of the movie ‘Waging a Living’.  This is a film that puts a human face on modern economic realities, showing how people can be working hard and still be poor in this country.  ‘Waging a Living’ will be shown on Tuesday, March 29, 7:00-9:00 pm, at St. Olaf College, Dittman Hall, Room 305.  Discussion will follow the film.  The event is free and everyone is invited and welcome.

The Northfield Reads events have, once again, shown that Northfield is an engaged and compassionate community.  Join your neighbors in the discussion of who we are as a community and how to strengthen our area for everyone.  If you are interested in reading this year’s book, it is available at both Content Bookstore and at the Library.

Northfield Reads is sponsored by many groups including:  Human Rights Commission, Northfield Public Library, League of Women Voters, NHS One Act Plays, Community Action Center, Thrivent Financial, Content Bookstore, Carleton College’s Center for Community and Civic Engagement, and St. Olaf College’s Department of Social Work and Family Studies.
