VIDEO: Northfield School Board Public Hearing and Meeting (February 8, 2016)

Public Hearing (20 minutes)

The Northfield School Board held a public meeting to gather feedback on applicants for the seat on the school board left vacant by the resignation of Anne Maple. There were four applicants for the position: Mike Birthelsen, Fritz Bogott, Ray Cox, and Dale Gehring. The video includes remarks by supporters of each candidate, and statements by the candidates themselves.  

Regular School Board Meeting (2 hours)

The Northfield School Board held its regular meeting on Monday, February 8, 2016, at 7pm, in the high school media center. A complete packet for the meeting can be found here. Highlights of the meeting included:

  1. Apppointment of a new school board member to fill the seat left vacant by the resignation of Anne Maple. Ray Cox, Fritz Bogott, and Mike Berthelsen were nominated for the position. Ray Cox received one vote (Quinnell) and Fritz Bogott received the four votes (Colangelo, Hardy, Prtichard, Stratmoen) necessary for the appointment. Immediately following the voting, Fritz Bogott was sworn in and took his seat onthe school board. His term will expire ont the first Monday in January 2017, and his seat will be up for election in November 2016.
  2. A presentation on the results of the ThoughtExchange process. See Brittney Neset's story in the Northfield News for more information (a subscription may be necessary to view).

The school board will meet on Tuesday, February 16, 2016, at 5pm, in the high school media center for a work session on student discipline. The next regular school board meeting will be on Monday, February 22, 2016, at 7pm, in the high school media center.
