Fairy Tale Princess visits Northfield

Click for larger sizePrincess Märtha Louise of Norway came to Northfield yesterday on a book tour to support her new childrens book, a fairy tale featuring her grandfather and great-grandparents as characters. She is the last member of Norway's royal family to visit our fair city, coming just six months after a visit by her brother, Crown Prince Haakon Magnus.

The Junior Singers of the Northfield Youth Choirs entertained the standing-room-only crowd at St. Olaf's Buntrock Commons and Svein Nyhus, the book's illustrator, showed and spoke about a few of the illustrations, pointing out some interesting "hidden" details in the images. Then the princess read from the book, with an expressiveness that delighted the schoolkids gathered at her feet, before settling down to sign autographs for hundreds of book-clutching admirers.
