Arts A La Carte at Northfield High School This Friday

Click to view larger sizeThe music and visual art departments at Northfield High School are gearing up for Arts a la Carte, a student celebration of all the arts on Friday April 7th from 6:00 until 9:00 at the High School. And the one dollar admission will buy you a chance to win an Ipod!

This event will showcase the talents of hundreds of talented students and will feature vocal and instrumental ensembles, a student art exhibit and booths of the Honors Art students who will be demonstrating in various media, including painting, ceramics and filmmaking.

There are also student run activities for the whole family such as face painting, art button making, marbleized paper making, DDR (Dance Dance Revolution), wandering magician, portrait artists and book making, just to name a few! And back by popular demand is the make your own fish print T-shirt event.

The Edible Art contest is back, too, and everyone in the community is invited to submit a piece. Past winners have included a replica of VanGogh's "Starry Night" in frosting and a dream vacation spot made of a hollowed out watermelon with turquoise jello ocean, brown sugar sand and tootsie roll and fruit roll-up palm trees.

New this year is the silent art auction to raise money for an art scholarship for a graduating senior going into the arts.

If anyone would like to contribute a piece of art or something of value for the auction give me a call at 645-5210. I am one if the art teachers at the High School and I can tell you that this is a fun event. We think our students are wonderful and we hope you all can see why our Northfield arts students are the best!
