Two Finnish-American Bands to Headline St. Urho's Day Celebration

Click to view a PDF of the poster"Heinasirkka, heinasirkka, menetaalta hiiten!"—These were the immortal words uttered by St. Urho as he chased the grasshoppers out of Finland many years ago, thereby saving the grape harvest. Who was St. Urho? What the heck was he saying? Don your purple and green and come to Northfield's St. Urho's Day Celebration on Thursday, March 16, to find out! While you're there, taste some delicious Finnish food and dance to driving rhythms of Finnish polkas, humppas, jenkkas (schottisches), waltzes and tangos.

The Twin Cities' Finnish-American dance band, Finn Hall, joined by Finnish-American brass septet Ameriikan Poijat, directed by Northfielder Paul Niemisto, will headline the second-annual event. They will be joined by special guests Northfield's Nordic Jam, Paul Niemisto as master of ceremonies and a special appearance by St. Urho himself!
