From Peggy Prowe comes the announcement that on Wednesday, August 1, 2012, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, the City of Northfield will be hosting an informational meeting to brief interested members of the public about the current status of the TIGER Grant -funded trail project.  This meeting will be held using an open house format in the 2nd Floor Training Room at the Northfield City Hall at 801 Washington Street, Northfield, MN.

In December 2011, the city received a grant from the US Department of Transportation to construct an underpass on Highway 3 near Greenvale Avenue.  According to the city’s website, Northfield was awarded $1.06 million to construct a multi-use trail for pedestrians and cyclists for travel between downtown and the northwest neighborhoods. It will use the existing Highway 3 underpass adjacent to Water Street to allow safe passage under the highway and will connect to both St. Olaf Avenue and Greenvale Avenue. The City Council authorized a $500,000 local match to fulfill the project funding.

City staff, members and representatives of WSB & Associates will be present to explain the project and answer questions. For more information, contact Joseph L. Stapf, P.E., Public Works Director/City Engineer at 507-645-3006, or
