Drama in Dundas

Last weekend I observed a bit of drama in a field in Dundas. Apparently there is a nesting pair of bald eagles near the Cannon River in Dundas (where a section of the river is designated "wild and scenic", and we plan on keeping it that way).

One eagle stands watch while the other feasts on what appeared to have been a rabbit.

The crows crowded in a little, but under the watchful eye of the second eagle, they did not seem too interested in challenging for the kill.

Even so, at one point the eagle moved its dinner closer to the road.
