Preschoolers can get their kicks this summer, thanks to the Northfield Area Family YMCA.

The YMCA will conduct Wee and U4 soccer programs for 3- and 4-year-olds beginning next month, in partnership with the Northfield Soccer Association (NSA).

Similar to the NSA’s in-house summer program for older youngsters, YMCA soccer is scheduled from Tuesday, June 14, to Thursday, July 28. Practices and games will be each Tuesday and Thursday, for a total of 14 sessions.

But unlike NSA, YMCA soccer runs from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. at the Sibley Elementary School soccer fields. There will be separate programs for 3-year-olds (Wee) and 4-year-olds (U4).

YMCA soccer focuses on teamwork, sportsmanship, health and laughter. So, preschoolers taking part should be prepared to have fun.

Registration fees are $35 for YMCA members and $60 for non-members. Each player will receive a t-shirt.

Participants can be registered online at the YMCA’s website --- www.northfieldymca.org -- or by filling out the signup form on the YMCA soccer brochure, which is available at the Y office, 205 W. Third St., Northfield.

The Northfield YMCA welcomes all who wish to participate in its programs, meaning no one is turned away because of inability to pay.
