Three Youth Soloists to perform with Cannon Valley Regional Orchestra

The Cannon Valley Regional Orchestra (CVRO) is pleased to announce that it awarded soloist positions to three accomplished area high school students, all of whom will perform with the orchestra in CVRO’s Youth Soloist Concert on March 11, 2018.  The three winning soloists are Brianne Ulrich (Piano, Homeschool, Owatonna), Katie Van Epps (Flute, Kenyon-Wanamingo High School), and Celia Woock (Flute, Kenyon-Wanamingo High School). All three are accomplished, active musicians. The concert’s repertoire includes the overture from the motion picture, “Beauty and the Beast” and Antonin Dvorak’s “New World” Symphony.  CVRO and the three youth soloists will perform on Sunday, March 11, 2018 at 3pm at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 500 Third Street West, Northfield. 

The three soloists were selected from numerous applicants, all having submitted audio recordings of solo pieces. Applicants could be of any age, play any instrument, and live in the larger Northfield/Cannon Falls area. Applicants have the opportunity to work with CVRO’s players and its esteemed conductor, Dr. Paul Niemesto.

Advanced sale tickets are $12.00 for adults, $8.00 for students and seniors.  Tickets may be purchased at the Guild’s Center for the Arts Gift Shop, 304 Division Street South, by calling the Northfield Arts Guild at 507-645-8877, or online at A suggested, “pay what you want” admission is also available at the door, and no one will be turned away because of an inability to pay. 

Since 1979, CVRO has drawn players from a wide area, including Northfield, Cannon Falls, New Prague, Red Wing and Faribault. The orchestra’s performers are dedicated amateurs of all ages whose love for orchestral music encourages them to perform to high levels of artistic excellence. The Cannon Valley Regional Orchestra is a program of the Northfield Arts Guild.

This activity is made possible by the voter of Minnesota through a Minnesota State Arts Board Operating Support grant, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
