Northfield Transit Initiative

The Northfield Grass Roots Transit Initiative will meet on Monday, November 14, 2011 from 8:30-9:45 a.m. in City Hall.  This meeting is open to the public and will be of particular interest to local residents who are interested in improving local transit options in our community.

The Transit Initiative was founded in 2008 and is a coalition of community organizations, institutions and local residents working to promote private and public transit options within Northfield as well as to develop transit options for connecting our community to the region and the Metro area. The group is is working with the City to pursue improvements to the City's Northfield Transit service and to encourage public input into the development of that new system. Other projects include a study of transit needs of underserved youth in the community, development of ride-share opportunities and development and expansion of inter-city transit connections to regional destinations and the Metro area including the new Northfield Metro Express Bus service offered by Transit Initiative participant Northfield Lines.
