Purple Door Youth Theater is back with its twelfth show, It’s a Wonderful Life!

This holiday classic is presented by a cast and crew of 19 student performers and technicians. Widely considered one of the most inspirational and beloved stories in American film, It’s a Wonderful Life, translates beautifully to the Guild stage in this imaginative 1940’s style radio-on-stage production by Tony “Sparx” Palermo. This adaptation is designed as a live theater production with all the pizzazz and delight of golden era live radio shows, including students as live sound effects artists.

George Bailey has spent his whole life giving up his dreams to help others. When his Uncle Billy loses the funds belonging to his small loan business and George realizes that he will be held responsible, he believes his family and friends would be better off without him. On Christmas Eve, his guardian angel, Clarence, has a better idea.

“This delightful story has survived 75 years because it teaches us about the power of love, sharing and sacrifice,” says Purple Door Youth Theater Director, Rachel Haider. “It demonstrates the importance of character and integrity, and it reminds us how each of our lives touches so many others. As the year ends and another begins, experiencing It’s a Wonderful Life through these students will bring you joy and warm your heart.”

It’s a Wonderful Life opens Saturday, December 4, 2021, with performances December 4, 5, 11, and 12. Saturday shows begin at 7:00pm while Sunday shows begin at 2:00pm. For more information and to purchase tickets, please visit or call 507-645-8877.
