Rehearsals will begin in January 2017. Les Misérables performances are March 9-11 and March 15-18 at the Northfield Arts Guild Theater, 411 W. Third St. More information and audition tips are available by visiting the Education page at NorthfieldArtsGuild.org.

Students in grades 5 through 12 from across the region are encouraged to try out for the many roles both on and off stage.  To view the character descriptions, find music to prepare, and to sign up for a 30-minute audition slot, call 507-645-8877 or visit northfieldartsguild.org/theater/auditions.  Students interested in working with the technical side of theater are asked to attend the auditions for a technician interview; however tech candidates need not prepare anything in advance.

Each Purple Door Youth Theater session provides both a full-scale production and theater training; there is a nominal tuition cost.  Direction and instruction is provided by Rachel Haider (Director), Liz Shepley (Music Director), Jana Hirsch (Choreographer) and Tania Legvold (Costumer).  Through hands-on-theater experiences, students will be involved with every aspect of producing the show.

Les Misérables is the story of Jean Valjean, a prisoner who breaks parole to create a new life for himself.  Set in post-revolutionary France, the story is an emotional masterpiece that has thrilled audiences all over the world. Les Misérables (school edition) has been abridged, but is still rated PG-13 and continues to maintain the integrity of one the greatest musicals ever written.   Music by Claude-Michel Schönberg, Lyrics by Herbert Kretzmer, Original French text by Alain Boublil and Jean-Marc Natel.  Additional Material by James Fenton, Based on the novel by Victor Hugo.
