Karin & Dana Jokela, members of our chapter, raise and market beautiful native plants and organic vegetables at Sogn Valley Farm, 4830 360th St, Cannon Falls, MN.  They will give us a tour of their farm followed by an opportunity to buy plants and vegetables.  Bring your questions about identifying and growing plants.  We will plan to carpool, leaving Northfield at about 4:30 PM.

"make love, not war!”  With the Peloponnesian Wars raging, the distressed women of Athens take matters into their own hands, refusing to make love with their husbands until the war is over.

Join Carleton astronomers at the monthly Goodsell Observatory Open House Friday night, July 6, from 10 PM to midnight if clear.

Open houses are held the first Friday of every month. Times vary due to changing sunset times through the year. View Stars,  Planets, Nebulas, and Clusters through the Observatory telescopes.

The Open House will be cancelled if it is cloudy.  If the weather is iffy, check go.carleton.edu/observatory for last-minute updates.

This beautiful park and garden is home to more than 500 plant species and 130 bird species.  It has woodlands, wetlands and prairies, each with its own natural specialties.  Many plants, such as Showy lady’s slippers, native irises, and cardinal flowers should be in bloom at this time. 

Details will be announced closer to the date.  Bus space is limited so pre-registration is required.  Bus will leave from Emmaus Church.  Preregistration is required by contacting Barb at bdbolan@hotmail.com or 507-649-2874.

The Northfield Arts Guild Theater and director Eric Parrish present the Tony and Pulitzer Prize- winning musical Next to Normal (with Music by Tom Kitt and Book and Lyrics by Brian Yorkey) on July 27, 28, 29 and August 2, 3, 4, 5.  Thursday, Friday, Saturday performances are at 7:30pm with Sunday matinees at 2:00pm.  All shows play at The Guild Theater, 411 Third Street West, Northfield.

Next to Normal was chosen as “one of the year’s ten best shows” by critics around the country, including The Los Angeles Times, The Washington Post, Rolling Stone and The New York Times. This Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize-winning rock musical deals with mental illness, grief and love through spectacular music.  The story is filled with humor and hope.
