“6 Fifths,” St. Olaf and Carleton 5th-Year E.A. Exhibition, runs April 13 – May 13 at the Northfield Arts Guild’s Center for the Arts, 304 Division Street South, Northfield.  This exhibition features the following artists: Marra Evans, Dorae Hankin, Abby Star, Erika Terwilliger, Jon Tiburzi, and Madison Vang.  An Artist Reception is scheduled for April 21st, 7:00 to 9:00pm, with artist talks beginning at 8:00pm.

Every year, a select group of senior art majors are invited to continue their studies at St. Olaf College and Carleton College as part of a 5th year apprentice program. The Northfield Arts Guild is proud to showcase these up-and-coming emerging artists.  The work in this show represents various pieces that were created during the duration of their 5th-year experience.

Catherine Williams and Karen Lundquist, Master Naturalists and members of Prairie Partners chapter of Wild Ones will share their knowledge on the natural history of native bees, how to attract them, and ways to improve and provide their habitats.  As important pollinators, native bees are a critical component of a healthy and beautiful natural environment.

The Northfield Arts Guild presents The Miracle Worker

Courage, trust and resilience are all celebrated in the timeless classic: The Miracle Worker by William Gibson. This remarkable story of young Helen Keller, deaf and blind since childhood, and her gifted tutor, Annie Sullivan, plays at the Northfield Arts Guild Theater April 21 – 30, 2017. Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 pm and Sundays at 2:00 pm. The theater is located at 411 Third Street West, Northfield.

Come get creative with your friends.  The Northfield Arts Guild is now offering “The Studio”, a bi-weekly free drop-in open art studio for middle school and high school youth, supported by the Healthy Community Initiative’s YouthBank.  This open studio will be held on Saturday, April 22 from 6:00 to 8:00pm. Art-making supplies will be available for painting, drawing, collage, and other art mediums.  No prior registration is necessary; youth are encouraged to drop in to the Center for the Arts, 304 Division Street South, Northfield.

The Northfield Parkinson’s Support Group will meet on Wednesday, April 26 at Northfield Hospital. Individuals who have Parkinson’s, or those with a loved one who has Parkinson’s, are invited to attend. 

The meeting topic is “Life Hacks: Ideas that help overcome the obstacles of daily life.” Participants are encouraged to bring their ideas or items that help with daily tasks, to share with others. The group also will share videos that offer new ideas.

This event is free and open to the public.

Arlene and Dennis Kjar will host the main fundraiser, a garage sale, for the Northfield Prairie Partners of Wild Ones.  All are encouraged to participate.  Please donate items for sale (no electrical items or baby equipment), price ahead of time and deliver to Arlene’s home on Thursday or early Friday morning.  Popular items include: birdhouses and feeders, clothing, fruiting plants, native flowers and grasses, antiques, collectibles, and heirloom tomatoes.  Contact Arlene if you can help during the sale or set up.  Friday 11 AM – 7 PM, Saturday 8 AM – 6 PM.
