Northfield-The City is extending its advisory warning to the public to consider avoiding direct contact with the water on the Cannon River downstream of Northfield in Dakota County and Goodhue County through 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 6 as a result of a discharge of wastewater from the Northfield Wastewater Treatment Plant on the early morning of Tuesday, July 2, 2018.

Water quality test samples collected Wednesday, July 4, show bacteria levels have decreased below recreational water quality levels.  The City is waiting on additional test results to confirm this trend and is anticipating the advisory will be lifted on Friday, July 6, 2018.

Swimming and other direct human contact with the Cannon River downstream of Northfield is not advised.  Additional sampling and testing is being conducted.  Another advisory will be issued tomorrow on Friday, July 6.
