Talk on Medical Decisions Saturday at Public Library

Mara Hvistendahl, former Northfield resident, will give a free public talk "The Gray Zone: Medical Decisions in an Era of Abundant Data"  on Saturday, June 15, at 2 pm in the Bunday Room of the Northfield Public Library. She will speak on her experience with a complicated birth and on medical decision-making in general.
 
Hvistendahl is a science writer and author of “Unnatural Selection: Choosing Boys over Girls and the Consequences of a World Full of Men” which was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in 2012. She has written about everything from underwater archaeology to cyber espionage. Her feature articles, op-eds and book reviews have appeared in The Atlantic, The New York Times, Popular Science, Scientific American, Technology Review, The Wall Street Journal, WIRED and other publications.
 

 Her talk is made possible by an Artist Initiative grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board.
