Precinct caucuses are open to the public. Anyone eligible to vote in the 2012 general election, who lives in their precinct and is in general agreement with the principles of the political party, may participate in their caucus.

These political party-organized meetings mark the beginning of the election process.  In addition to electing officers for the precinct, each caucus elects delegates to the next step in candidate nominations, the county convention.  Participants offer policy ideas in the form of resolutions, which may go on to become planks for their party platforms.  Often, presentation and discussion of resolutions are the highlight of the evening!
