Popular Charles Walker Band returns to Northfield in support of their latest CD release, “Ghetto Prophet”

Charles Walker Band

Back by very popular demand, the Charles Walker Band returns to Northfield for a not-to-be-missed evening of fantastic live music and dancing on Saturday, April 12 from 9 p.m. to midnight. Currently in the midst of a busy national tour in support of their new CD release, “Ghetto Prophet,” the Charles Walker Band are renowned for their energetic live performances and top-notch musicianship. Based in Milwaukee, the band was awarded 2013's Best R&B/Soul Band by the Wisconsin Music Association (WMA).

“This is a rare opportunity to catch one of the nation’s hottest R&B bands, right here in downtown Northfield,” says Jessica Paxton of KYMN Radio. “I’m a big fan of this band’s classic sound and their live performances are HOT!”

Grounded in blues, the band has refined their sound into what can best be described as soul, a fusion of funk, r&b and Motown. They have been compared to a wide array of musicians (Sly and the Family Stone, Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings, George Clinton and Parliment Funkadelics, James Brown), but their music retains deep gospel influences and positive lyrical messages. An in-demand band, the Charles Walker Band has opened for numerous national acts including Earth Wind & Fire, Aaron Neville, Robert Cray, BB King, Richard Marx, Booker T, Cameo and Bernard Allison.
