The brand new River Bend Nature Center Outdoor Adventures Programbegins in June. This exciting program seeks to engage both youth and adults in a variety of outdoor recreation activities. There will be programs on camping, fly-fishing, archery, slack lining, canoeing, and rock climbing. Many of the programs are designed for those with limited experience who are looking to try something new outside.

Garrett Genereux is the OAP Coordinator.  This year, he has worked as an intern in the RBNC school programs. Outdoor adventures have played a role in Garrett’s life beginning with childhood camping trips. In college, he discovered rock climbing and took a National Outdoor Leadership course in Chilean Patagonia. During that 70-day course, his group kayaked and climbed mountains in southern Chile and he led a small group for a ten-day trip into Chilean backcountry.  Garrett has certification as a Wilderness First Responder and has CPR medical certification, Day Trip Sea Kayak Guide certification, and Wilderness Water Safety certification. He and his wife Erin live in Faribault.

Garrett says, “if one of the programs catches your eye but you have never tried it or the idea is a little scary, just come on out and you and others will have a great time outdoors! The OAP is a resource to get you and your family outside and loving it!”

The programs begin in June and go into mid-September. To see the schedule, visit the RBNC website at www.rbnc.org/ outdooradventures or call 507/332-7151 for more information.
