Martin Luther Kind Jr. Events at St. Olaf

The Cultural Union for Black Expression (CUBE) will host a variety of events at St. Olaf College Jan. 16-19 to celebrate the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr.

An opening ceremony for the remainder of the celebration will take place Friday, Jan. 16, at 5:30 p.m. in the Buntrock Commons Crossroads. This will be followed by a poetry night Saturday, Jan. 17, at 8 p.m. in the Lion's Lair. The movie The Great Debaters will be shown Sunday, Jan. 18, at 6:30 p.m. in Viking Theater.

Events will conclude Monday, Jan. 19 -- Martin Luther King Jr. Day -- with a service at 10:10 a.m. in Boe Chapel featuring the theme "Letters from the Birmingham Jail." The service, which will also be streamed live and archived online, will be followed by a birthday celebration at 10:30 a.m. in the Buntrock Commons Crossroads.
