Introducing Northfield.Org's January Intern: Amy Sack

Amy SackMy name is Amy Sack and I am working as an intern for this January. I am a senior English major at St. Olaf and have taken several classes focusing on nonfiction and journalistic writing. The journalism class I took this fall sparked my interest in an internship in the journalism field. In Northfield, I have worked as a tutor for several years at Bridgewater, both in the Targeted Services after school program and in the kindergarten. Next year I hope to return to my hometown, Minneapolis, as a member of the Minnesota Reading Corps, to work one-on-one with students who have fallen behind in reading.

Over the next few weeks, I will be covering several stories for to help increase the content portion of the website. For my first story I am profiling Mayor Mary Rossing, and will decide which topics to cover for the rest of the month soon. I want to cover stories that are important and interesting to the Northfield community, so I would appreciate hearing any suggestions.

I'm especially interested in child development and education issues in Northfield. Unfortunately, I only have four weeks to work, and already have enough story ideas to last much longer. Still, I would welcome topic suggestions and/or feedback about the stories I write. Although I will only be working for for one month, I’m hoping that my stories might encourage other people to submit not just event postings on, but story content as well. E-mail me at:
