Hauck leads Bull Sharks

The Northfield Swim Club Bull Sharks swam hard last weekend while hosting a total of 17 teams at the middle school’s Skip Boyum Pool. While every swimmer had excellent races with improved stroke technique and speed, the race of the meet belonged to Marcus Hauck as he qualified to swim at the state meet in the 50 backstroke with a time of 38.10. He’s been on the verge of achieving state qualifying times in a few events for a few months and finally jumped into that level.

Other great swims belonged to Carrin Baker, who bravely volunteered to take on the 1000 yard freestyle minutes after swimming the 200 Butterfly for the first time. Both were excellent swims and she got out of the water smiling which speaks loudly for her character as a swimmer.

Anders Johnson continues to assert himself as the team’s powerful breaststroker. He chopped off a few more seconds in the 50 and 100 breaststrokes and is getting closer to his age group’s state qualifying times.

Hannah Johnson showed off her improving endurance in the 200 freestyle as she cut over 18 seconds.

Haakon Larsen flexed his muscles to drop over 10 seconds in 4 events. He has come a long way in the last couple months thanks to his dedication to practice and that last growth spurt! His sister, Kayli has really turned a corner as she dropped 13 seconds in both the 50 breaststroke and 50 backstroke.

Sean Meagher hit a great milestone achieving qualifying times to swim at finals this summer in a few events.

While it was a great weekend for the swim club, it’s only the beginning. The spring/summer season will take them all over the state to see the best of the best. Their next stop is in Red Wing on Saturday, May 19. See the attachment for the full results.
