Haiti Relief

Baby and two womanThe news of Haiti’s devastating earthquake prompted me to ask Northfielder Paul Miller how we can help. Paul has been involved with the food program at St Claire’s Church outside Port-au-Prince, and was instrumental in bring Margaret Trost whose “What If Foundation” supports the work there to Northfield this fall. In a recent email, Paul said he has no information yet about the St. Clair’s community.

Partners in HealthPaul suggested contributing to Zanmi Lasante, a program of “Partners In Health.” Since it’s founding by Paul Farmer and others in 1985,Lanmi Lasante has become a “flagship" project, comprised of a health care facilities in villages throughout the country. It is the largest nongovernmental health care provider for more than a half million people living in the Central Plateau of Haiti.
