Celebrate the Season with the 4th Annual Northfield Earth Day Contra Dance


Everyone is invited to celebrate the return of the spring season at the 4th Annual Earth Day Contra Dance, Friday, April 29, 2011, from 7 to 10:30 p.m., at the Northfield Ballroom. No dance partner is required, nor is prior dance experience. The evening begins with a dance lesson at 7 p.m., followed by dancing to the music of Contratopia!, led by famed dance "caller" Beau Farmer. Admission is $9 for adults, $6 for students and youth, with a $25 cap per family. Thanks to the Carleton College Student Association, free admission will be offered to Carleton students with valid identification. Proceeds from the dance will benefit the Cannon River Watershed Partnership.

EcoTrans will offer free round-trip shuttles to the Northfield Ballroom from Bridge Square, departing Bridge Square at 6:30 p.m. and again at 6:45 p.m. and returning to Bridge Square at 10:45 p.m. and 11 p.m.

Free round-trip shuttles will also be offered to the Northfield Ballroom from Carleton College (Willis Hall bus stop) and St. Olaf College (Buntrock Commons bus stop) via the Carleton/St. Olaf local bus service (check the campus bus schedule for departure times).

The Northfield Ballroom is located at 1055 North Highway 3 in Northfield, Minnesota.

The 4th Annual Northfield Earth Day Contra Dance is sponsored by the Northfield Contra Dance Association in collaboration with the Carleton College Student Association, Carleton SOPE (Students Organized for the Protection of the Environment), the St. Olaf College Environmental Coalition, Just Food Co-op, the Cannon River Watershed Partnership, 5th Bridge, and the Northfield Earth Day Celebration Committee.
