Call for Lucia Attendants and Star Boys

Lucia Fest

The Northfield Swedish Club is preparing for its 40th annual Lucia celebration and is looking for girls and boys interested in participating as attendants. The event is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 11, at 6 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 500 3rd St. W., in Northfield.

Area residents of Swedish descent—or those simply interested in a night of fun, food and music—are invited to attend this annual celebration marking the beginning of the Swedish Christmas season. It includes a potluck supper, a Lucia processional and pageant, live fiddle music, singing, and folk dancing around the Christmas tree.

After the meal, Lucia, dressed in white with a red sash at her waist and wearing a crown of candles on her head, will lead a procession of attendants and star boys, singing the traditional Lucia song.

Parents who are interested in having their kids involved in the pageant as Lucia attendants or star boys should contact Michelle Fredrickson at fredrick@stolaf.edu. Adults interested in helping in the kitchen should contact Laurel Engquist at 507-663-0086.
