Author Ben Percy to speak at the Northfield Public Library

Benjamin Percy

The Northfield Public Library, along with Content Bookstore and Graywolf Press, is pleased to have Benjamin Percy, novelist, comics writer and screenwriter, present a storytelling workshop and craft lecture on plot and suspense at the library on Wednesday, October 19 at 7 pm in the Bunday Meeting room.  After writing two short-story collections and a literary novel, Mr. Percy delivered the werewolf thriller Red Moon and the postapocalyptic epic The Dead Lands.  Now, in Thrill me: Essays on Fiction, his first book of nonfiction, Percy challenges the notion that literary and genre fiction are somehow mutually exclusive.  Thrill Me brims with Percy's distinctive blend of anecdotes, advice and close reading, all in the service of one dictum: Thrill the Reader.  Percy's honors include an NEA Fellowship, the Whiting Writers' Award, two Pushcart Prizes, and the Plimpton Prize.  The workshop is free and open to the public.  For more information call the library at 507-645-6606.
