savage aural hotbedGet Set For A Knock-Your-Socks-Off Performance!

ArtSwirl 2009 kicks-off on Thursday, August 13, with a FREE performance by award-winning, critically-acclaimed techno percussion wizards, Savage Aural Hotbed. The performance will take place on Bridge Square from 7-9 p.m., following a breakdancing set by local whiz kids the Lost Boyz Crew (6-7 p.m.) and arts & crafts activities for kids (6-7:30 p.m.) sponsored by The Rare Pair, Sisters Ugly, The Sketchy Artist, and Women & Kids On Division.

Combining musical ingenuity and over-the-top spectacle, this ground-breaking avant-garde quartet pushes the boundaries of musical composition, drawing influence from classical and punk rock music alike, along with a heavy dose of Japanese Taiko drumming. The band uses both traditional and non-traditional “instruments,” including chain saws, hubcaps, discarded appliances and industrial oil cans. Savage Aural Hotbed has generated a lot of buzz (pun intended!) with performances at the Walker Art Center, the Southern Theater, First Avenue and other popular Twin Cities arts and performance venues. The show is still on!

Rain will delay the start of tonight's Savage Aural Hotbed concert, but the show is still on, and the plan is still for it to happen outdoors on Bridge Square. So enjoy a more leisurely dinner tonight and then we'll see you downtown!
