Outdoor Pool closed - Kiddie Pool to open

After monitoring the water levels since the last repairs were made, the pool continues to leak over 30,000 gallons per day. For a pool the size of the Northfield pool, the maximum water loss permitted by health and safety standards is no more than 6,000 gallons per day.

At this point in the season and the life of the pool, built in 1958, there are really no other options to consider except to get moving on developing a plan for a new pool facility.

"The Kiddie pool will open Wednesday (June 22nd) at no charge to users. The city is absorbing the cost for the personnel time. The new Middle School will have some open swim hours. We are also exploring other community options," said Susan Hoyt, Northfield City Administrator.

City of Northfield to give city Website an overhaul

citylogo.gif The City of Northfield is kicking off the first step in redesigning their web site; gathering input from the public on what they want to see and use on the city web site.

There will be 2 public input meetings in addition to other feedback gathering processes for gathering as many public comments, suggestions and ideas for the new City of Northfield website as possible.

The first meeting will be on Monday, May 23rd at 7:00pm. The event is located in room SS103 of the Northfield Community Resource Center. For those who can't make Monday's meeting, a second meeting will be held June 14 at 5:30pm at the City Hall.

Livefront (the company hired to gather requirements for this project) has set up a blog to post project updates, surveys, and other ways to get involved: The Northfield Web Site Redesign Blog.

Hwy 3 Building removal begins

Tuesday marked the beginning of the first tangible sign that the Highway 3 construction is really starting; the house and part of what was Bill's Pizza building where torn down and hauled away. If the pace continues, the building demolition and removal should be done by the end of the week. Buildings to be removed, in addition to the ones already removed, include Godfathers Pizza, Muffler Shop building, Kump Lumber building, and the building on the southeast corner of 2nd Street and Hwy 3.
