Arleen Theodora Lindelien (Thompson) age 81, died on Thursday afternoon, November 11th 2010, peacefully at The Reflections in Northfield. Arleen was gravely ill with cancer but managed to tolerate visits from devoted relatives, friends, neighbors and even former son-in-laws who called upon her as she received hospice care at her residence in rural Lakeville where she had lived for the last fifty years.

She is survived by her loving husband and chief caregiver, Raymond Lindelien, who married her on June 6th, 1949 in Staples. They enjoyed rearing six children who all survive her: Theodore Lindelien of St. Peter, Thomas Lindelien of Aitkin, Linda Hammer of Bloomington, The Reverend Carl Lindelien and wife DeeDee of Northfield, Elizabeth Brewer and husband Steve of Land-O-Lakes, Florida, and Lynette Calabro and husband Chris of Gensen, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter-in-law Val Lindelien and infant granddaughter, Natalie Brewer.

Arleen was born at the Lutheran parsonage in Leonard, North Dakota to The Reverend S. Theodore Thompson and his wife Julianna (Fulsaas) on June 24th, 1929. The family moved later to a small farm near Staples where Arleen went to High School and received her diploma. She worked as a dental assistant in Staples and was a housewife and mother to her growing family when they moved to the Northfield area in the mid 1950’s. In later years she worked at the Carleton College Tea Room and then in various positions at the Northwest Airlines flight kitchen in Minneapolis-St. Paul from which she retired as first cook. She much enjoyed flying to travel destinations all over the country and around the world on her own, with family members or her husband.
