Marian Phelps

Marian Phelps, age 93 of Northfield, passed away Sunday, August 19, 2012 at the Reflections Unit of the Three Links Care Center. Funeral Services will be 4:00 pm Wednesday, August 22nd at the Bierman Funeral Home in Northfield with Visitation one half hour prior to Services at the Bierman Funeral Home.

Marian Louise Phelps was born February 16, 1919 in Minneapolis, daughter of John and Margit (Thvedt) McKinley. She was grew up in Minneapolis and attended the University of Minnesota for 2 years, Minneapolis School of Business, and then the MacPhail School of Music. On April 3, 1941 she was united in marriage to Leland Moren Phelps of Northfield.

Marian worked at General Hospital in Minneapolis and was the first staff member of their Crisis Intervention Center. She was a charter member of the Minneapolis Rainbow Club, Member of the League of Women Voters, Chair of the Columbia Heights Library Board, and a member of the State Library Board.

Violet Jones

Violet Jones, age 93, of Northfield, passed away on Friday, August 17, 2012 at the Northfield Care Center.

Funeral arrangements are being completed by the Bierman Funeral Home and will be announced late.

Debra Sullivan

Debra Sullivan, age 61, of Dundas passed away peacefully on August 15, 2012 at Fairview University Hospital in Minneapolis, MN awaiting a liver transplant.

Debra was born and raised in the Salt Lake City, UT and married to her husband, Bob, on December 28. 1982. They lived in the Washington, DC area for about 20 years before moving to Northfield in 1993. Together, they raised five children, Guillermo Chase, Carver Morris, Idemir Reeder, Ana Kelsey-Deo and Adrian Harman-Cole, who were with her when she passed. She is preceded in death by her parents, Dareld and Karyll Morris of Toole, UT and survived by her husband, five children, an aunt, Sheila Van Wagoner of Midvale, UT and two cousins, Jennifer and Tom Van Wagoner of Sandy, UT and Indonesia, respectively.

She was a loving mother and wife, an artist and avid gardener, a friend of the earth, a strong advocate for water quality and the light of our lives. She will be truly missed.

Marie Moore


Marie (Lilly) Moore, age 88, of Castle Rock, passed away on Sunday, July 29, 2012 at the Long Term Care Center in Northfield.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 2, 2012 at 6:00 pm at the Bierman Funeral Home in Northfield. Visitation will be on Thursday beginning at 4:00pm until the hour of services. A private burial will take place at the Greenvale Cemetery in Castle Rock at a later date.

Marie Louise Quai, the daughter of Henry and Anne (Froelich) Quai was born on June 16, 1924 in (Grenoble) Grenovel, France. Marie attended school in France and during the war she and her family lived in Algiers, Algeria which was a French Colony. Marie came to the America with her mother after the war. She worked for the French Lease Land Agency in Washington for a short time. Later, her family moved to Minnesota and on February 2, 1948 she was united in marriage to James Moore.
