Obituary

Nicholas Arthur Miller was born January 15, 2008, in Northfield, to Melissa Ohmann and Brian Miller. He passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 23, 2009, in Durand, Wisconsin. Nicholas loved to be outside, play in the sandbox, and be with his brother and sisters.

Virginia Ellen White Thurnblad was born in Buffalo, New York, on November 5, 1926, to Thomas A. and Florence (Anderson) White. She attended LTHS High School in LaGrange, Illinois, and Carleton College receiving a B.A. in Zoology.

Nicholas Miller, age 18 months or Greenvale Township, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 23, 2009, in Durand, Wisconsin.

Funeral services at Highview Christiania Lutheran Church in rural Farmington are pending.

Survivors include his mother and step-father, Melissa and Tylar Hokanson of Northfield; his father, Brian Miller of Castle Rock; his sister, Megan Miller; his brother, Noah Hokanson; two step-sister, Hailey Stodola and Elizabeth Gavin; his grandparents: Debbie and Charlie Ohmann of Northfield, Kim Miller (Phil) of Castle Rock, Emil (Jackie) Miller of Dodge Center; his step-grandparents, Ruth and Walter Hunecke of Maiden Rock, Wisconsin; his great-grandparents: Mary Larson of Brooklyn Park, Barb and Herman Ohmann of Northfield, Louie and Becky Mills of St. Cloud, Florida.

Arrangements are pending with the Benson & Langehough Funeral Home.

Martha Mary Shankey Drentlaw entered into God’s loving care on Friday, June 19, 2009, at her home in Northfield, at the age of 89.

Martha was born December 12, 1919, in Kenyon, Minnesota, to John and Exzilda (Carpentier) Shankey. She was baptized at St. Mathias in Hampton, raised on the family farm, and attended Catholic and country schools in the Northfield area. Martha married Donald Drentlaw on January 8, 1941, in Iowa.

Martha Drentlaw, age 89 of Northfield, passed away Friday morning, June 19, 2009, at her home in Parkview East.

Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, June 23, 2009, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Northfield. Interment will be in Meadow Ridge Memorial Park in Faribault. . Visitation will be 4-7 PM Monday, June 22, 2009, at the Benson & Langehough Funeral Home. Visitation will continue at the church on Tuesday one hour prior to the funeral.

Survivors include her children and their spouses: Beverly and Tom Heyerholm of Brookfield, Wisconsin, Nancy and Allan Swenson of Northfield, Bryan of Northfield; 7 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Lorraine Robbins of Hinckley, Edna Kotek of Faribault; and her brother , Maurice (Jean) Shankey of Coon Rapids.

Memorials are preferred to Northfield Hospice or Courage Center.

Arrangements are with the Benson & Langehough Funeral Home.

Jean Lavonne Rind was born April 5, 1923, in McIntosh, Minnesota, to Leonard and Lillian (Foss) Erickson. At the age of three she moved with her family to Kenyon, Minnesota, and graduated from Kenyon High School in 1938. She married Hurley O. Rind in May 1956. After marriage they lived in Texas, California, Oregon, Utah, Arizona and Kenyon.

Oliver Younger

Oliver K. Younger, age 85, of Northfield, passed away on Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at the Three Links Care Center.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, June 15, 2009 at 10:30 am at the Church of St. Dominic’s in Northfield with Father Dennis Dempsey as celebrant. Interment will take place at the Calvary Cemetery with full military honors.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 14, 2009 from 4 to 7 pm at the Bierman Funeral Home in Northfield and on Monday one hour prior to the service at the church.

Janet Engeseth Flicek was born January 26, 1942, in Northfield, Minnesota, to Elmer J. and Valdine R. (Haugen) Engeseth. She was raised in the Northfield area, attended Northfield High School, and has resided in McHenry, Illinois, since 1962. Janet was a member of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church of McHenry and enjoyed spending time with her family, friends and cats. She was an avid card player and loved the Chicago Cubs.
