Christopher Lund

Christopher Lund, age 23 of Northfield, passed away Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at the Methodist Hospital in Rochester, MN. Funeral Services will be 11:00 am Saturday, March 20th at the Northfield United Methodist Church with burial at the Red Rose Cemetery, rural Waterford with full Military Honors. Visitation will be Friday from 4-7:00 pm at the Bierman Funeral Home in Northfield and at the Church on Saturday one hour prior to Services.

Christopher Jordan Lund was born February 26, 1987 in Northfield, son of Darwin and Elizabeth (Christenson) Lund. He was raised in Northfield and was baptized and confirmed at the Northfield United Methodist Church. He attended school in Northfield graduating from Northfield High School in 2005. Chris liked to run and participated in track as a student. He enjoyed biking, snow boarding, video games, reading, and hanging out with his friends and going to the movies.

His first job was with Bon Appetit at St. Olaf College where his parents worked. He also enjoyed his other employments with Cardinal Glass and Knecht’s Nursery. In January of 2009 he entered the Army which began his long time dream of becoming an Army Ranger. He reported to Fort Benning in Georgia to begin basic training but one month later took a medical leave. His illness was later diagnosed as T-cell lymphoma.

Christopher is survived by his parents Betsy and Darwin Lund of Northfield; grandparents Wallace and Roberta Christenson of Buffalo, MN; great aunt Mary Harkness of Northfield; aunts and uncles Cynthia (Philip) Terpstra of Northfield, LuJean Paulson of Northfield, Lloyd (Melissa) Christenson of Buffalo, Jennifer (Christopher) Hoff of Woodbury, Michael (Kathy) Morris of Mankato, 17 cousins with their spouses and children. He was preceded in death by grandparents Anna and Francis Lund; aunt and uncles George Paulson, Julie and Kenneth Bartz; and cousin Kerry Bartz.
