Maurice Karl Harbaugh
Karl Harbaugh, age 77, of Northfield, died on Saturday, March 13, 2010 at the Reflections Suites of the Three Links Care Center. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 19, 2010 at 11:00 am at the Cornerstone Community Church in Northfield. Burial will take place in the Oaklawn Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 18th. from 4 to 8 pm at the Bierman Funeral Home in Northfield and on one hour prior to the service at the church.
Maurice Karl Harbaugh, the son of Rodger LeRoy and Helen Viola (Gordon) Harbaugh was born on October 15, 1932 in Waynesboro, PA. Karl attended and graduated from the Waynesboro High School area. Karl served 3 years in the U.S. Army military which included 2 years in France during the Korean Conflict. Karl completed the Engineer Equipment Maintenance Course in 1954. On September 26, 1959, he was united in marriage to Mildred (Millie) Blake in Smithsburg, MD. Karl was a dairy farmer in Waynesboro, PA until 1978 when they moved to Mt. Hope, WI, farming there until 2002. Karl was very proud of his herd of registered Holsteins. Karl and Millie moved to Northfield at that time, and Karl went into semi-retirement.
Karl enjoyed many years as a Pennsylvania member of a hunting club. In Wisconsin, Karl was a member of the Grant County Wisconsin Forage Council. Karl loved hunting, snowmobiling and 4-wheeling. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. Karl was always active in the church serving as a teacher in Pennsylvania and loved spreading the gospel.
Karl suffered from Lewy Body Dementia, a brain disease, that lasted several years. He is resting in peace with his Lord Jesus now!
Karl is survived by his wife; Mildred (Millie) of Northfield, four children; Rhonda (Joe) Witmer of Platteville, WI, Bonnie (Dave) White of Lancaster, WI, Sharon (George) Pawlitschek of Silver Lake, MN. and Vernon (Rodger) and his wife (Carla) Harbaugh of Prior Lake,MN, 8 grandchildren, Amy and Adam White, Ben and Rachel Witmer, Michael Solomon, Monique, Cristina and Olivia Harbaugh and a new grandchild coming in August 2010, brother; Rodger (Susie) Harbaugh of Fenton, MI, five sisters; Jean (Bob) Bear and Ruthie (Bud) Bear both of Waynesboro, PA, Lou (Wayne) Smith of Smithsburg, MD, Margaret Shank of Waynesboro, PA and Nancy Carson of Penn Mar, MD, and other relatives.
Karl was preceded in death by his parents, brother; Richard, two brother-in-laws; Lincoln Shank and Charles Carson.
