JAMES RILEY
James Riley, age 71 of Northfield, died on Sunday, January 31, 2010 at the Three Links Care Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, February 8, 2010 at 11:30 am from the Church of St. Dominic’s. Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 7th. from 2 to 5 pm at the Bierman Funeral Home and on Monday one hour prior to the service at the church.
James Thomas Riley the son of Robert and Lucille (McGonagel) Riley was born on June 24, 1938 in Stillwater, MN. He was united in marriage to Mary Doherty of Waverly on September 24, 1960 and together they had 4 children.
James was a man of many traits and talents. He had a passion for horses and spent time announcing at the Rainbow Saddle Club in Northfield. He went for training in Fergus Falls, MN for CDC training and spent a majority of his life counseling others. He was a man who celebrated his sobriety for 35 years and was very involved in the AA programs. He also did work with inmates at correctional institutes throughout Minnesota.
James is survived by two sons; Robert of Golden Valley and Michael of Minneapolis, two daughters; Shannon Riley of Portland, OR and Maureen Huot of Northfield, sister; Kathy (Bob) Fish of Locus Grove, VI, brother; Robert (Linda) Riley of Stillwater, His Aunt Elizabeth Riley of Chicago, IL, seven grandchildren, eight nieces and nephews and many friends. He is preceded in death by his wife; Mary, his parents, and two brothers; Mike and Pat Riley.
Funeral arrangements are by the Bierman Funeral Home of Northfield.
