Larry Trahan

Larry Trahan, age 59 of Northfield, passed away Friday, January 29, 2010 at his home following an extended illness. Funeral Services will be 11:00 am Saturday, February 6th at the Bierman Funeral Home in Northfield with burial at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4-8:00 pm at the Bierman Funeral Home in Northfield.

Larry David Trahan was born December 3, 1950 in Northfield, son of Raymond and Ardel (Woods) Trahan. He was raised on his parent’s farm in Greenvale Township along with his 3 sisters and brother and attended school in Northfield. On March 28, 1969 he was united in marriage to Wendy Lea King of Faribault making their first home in St Paul.

Larry and Wendy moved to Lakeville, later near Larry’s parent’s farm, and in June of 1978 to their long time home on Greenvale Avenue in Northfield with their 4 daughters. Larry worked for Marigold Creamery in Farmington for 14 ½ years and for the last 16 years at Malt-O-Meal in Northfield. He also had a lawn mowing business for over 25 years of both commercial and residential accounts.

Larry was always busy in his free time and enjoyed being outdoors. He helped his father on the farm for a number of years and then started his lawn business. Fishing on the Mississippi with family and friends in the spring and summer and hunting in the fall were favorite things to do. He also was an awesome gardener and provided tomatoes and vegetables to family, friends and co-workers for many years. Larry had a large collection of toys especially John Deere collectables.

Wendy passed away on September 22, 1993 and Larry and remained on Greenvale Avenue with their 2 youngest daughters who were still in school. In 2001 he purchased his parent’s farm and moved in with them. With Larry’s help they were able to remain on their farm until the end of their lives.

Larry Trahan is survived by daughters Shelly (Richard) Johnson of Northfield, Sherry Zahratka and significant other Tracy Monson of Faribault, Kari (Bernie) Andreas of Northfield, Cassie Trahan of Northfield; sister Mary (Al) Christensen of Farmington, Sharon Kinard of Farmington, Tammy Bess of Faribault; brother Raymond Trahan Jr. of Dundas; 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
