City Seeks Applications for Boards and Commissions

Advisory groups study city matters and make recommendations to the city council, providing valuable specialized information for council consideration as it makes policy decisions on our behalf. Service on a board or commission provides citizens a way to apply expertise and to become involved in local issues from land use planning to economic development.

At the end of the year, there will be openings on many of the city’s 18 boards, commissions and committees. According to the city’s web site, the city council is committed to appointing citizens who represent diverse qualifications and viewpoints. The council values the knowledge, collective experience and efforts the advisory groups provide.

Applications may be submitted throughout the year and are kept on file. For consideration for appointment for terms beginning in January 2010, however, applications must be turned in by December 18, 2009 after which the application review process will begin.
