Rebecca Campbell
Rebecca Mae Campbell was born October 15, 1954, in Middletown, Ohio, to Rev. Kenneth and Dorothy (Rogers) Campbell. She was raised in Homer City, Pennsylvania, and Holland and Osakis, Minnesota. She graduated from Osakis High School in 1972, and in 1977, received a BA in Anthropology from Blackburn College in Illinois. Following her education she live in Chicago and worked in the insurance business. During that time she met her future longtime companion, Walter F. Wojciechowski. From 1985 to 1993, they lived in Seattle, Washington, Richmond, Indiana, Nashville, Tennessee, and Crawfordsville, Indiana. In 1993, they moved to Northfield and Becca joined the staff at Carleton College as an administrative assistant in the Campus Activities Department.
Becca was the treasurer for the Pheasantwood Town Home Association and a former member of the acapella group - Jongulars. She loved animals, especially cats, and often cared for other peoples animals while they were away. She was strong, fair minded, well liked by those who knew her, had a great sense of humor and a deeply caring nature.
Survivors include her longtime companion, Walter F. Wojciechowski of Northfield, her mother, Dorothy of White Oak, Georgia; 2 sisters: Terri and husband Ben Edwards of White Oak, Bonnie Policz of Graysville, Pennsylvania; 2 brothers: David Campbell and wife April of Finksburg, Maryland, Scott Campbell of Ithaca, New York; nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, and her cat - Muppet. She was preceded in death by her father.
Becca passed away Sunday evening, September 20, 2009, at the Three Links Care Center in Northfield, at the age of 54.
Visitation will be at Skinner Memorial Chapel at Carleton College on Thursday, September 24, 2009, from 5-7PM, with a service of remembrance at 7 PM. Rev. Carloyn Fure-Slocum will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Rice County Humane Society or the donor’s choice.
